Terms, Conditions & Code of Conduct
By registering, paying an entry fee, or participating in any MRL activity you agree to all terms below. Governing state: North Carolina, United States.

Terms & Conditions
§ 1 — Eligibility
- Participation is open to individuals 18 years of age or older.
- By registering you confirm you are 18+, legally permitted to participate in skill-based competitions, and that all information you provide is accurate.
- The League reserves the right to verify your age and identity at any time and to deny or revoke participation.
§ 2 — Entry Fees & Payments
- Entry fees are $15.00 per player / per GM, processed via Square.
- All fees are non-refundable once the season begins or draft eligibility is granted.
- Refunds are considered only if the full season is cancelled, at the Commissioner's sole discretion.
- Any participant who initiates a chargeback or payment reversal after participating in league activities forfeits all rights and may be permanently banned from future seasons.
§ 3 — Prize Pool & Skill-Based Competition
- MRL is a skill-based competition. Prizes are awarded solely on in-game performance and competitive results — not by chance. This is not a gambling operation.
- Entry fees are tournament participation fees; prizes are distributed based on merit.
- Prize pool totals and tier distribution percentages are published before each season. The League retains 30% for operational costs.
- Prizes are paid within 14 days of season conclusion via a league-approved payment method.
- Tax notice: Prize winnings may be subject to U.S. federal and/or North Carolina state income tax. All winners are solely responsible for reporting and paying applicable taxes. Prizes of $600 or more may require a 1099-MISC form.
- The League reserves the right to withhold, adjust, or reallocate prizes from any participant found in violation of league rules or these Terms.
§ 4 — Commissioner Authority
- MRL is an informal community league operated by the Commissioner and League Office.
- The Commissioner has final authority over all rules, disputes, schedules, prize eligibility, and participant eligibility.
- The Commissioner may modify, suspend, or cancel the league at any time. In the event of full cancellation, a pro-rated refund may be considered at the Commissioner's discretion but is not guaranteed.
§ 5 — Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability
- MRL is provided as-is for competitive entertainment purposes. No warranties are made regarding uninterrupted service or platform availability.
- To the maximum extent permitted by North Carolina law, neither the Commissioner nor any League staff member shall be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from participation in MRL.
- The League is not responsible for platform outages, game server failures, third-party payment delays, or any circumstances outside its reasonable control.
§ 6 — Media & Content Rights
- By participating, you grant MRL a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use your username, team name, in-game clips, screenshots, and statistics for promotional purposes on Discord, social media, and the MRL website.
- You may stream your own matches; however, you may not claim official broadcast rights or monetize MRL-branded content without written permission from the Commissioner.
§ 7 — Governing Law & Disputes
- These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina.
- All disputes arising out of participation in MRL will first be addressed through the league's internal dispute resolution process (see Rulebook § 11).
- Any formal legal dispute, if necessary, shall be handled exclusively in the courts of North Carolina.
- These Terms do not create any partnership, employment, or agency relationship between participants and the League.
§ 8 — Changes to These Terms
- The League may update these Terms at any time. Notice will be posted in the official MRL Discord server with reasonable advance time.
- Continued participation after notice of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes.

Code of Conduct
§ 1 — Respect & Sportsmanship
- Treat all opponents, teammates, staff, and community members with respect at all times.
- Competitive trash talk is natural — personal attacks, sustained toxicity, or targeted harassment are not.
- Win or lose, conduct yourself with integrity. How you compete reflects on your team and this league.
§ 2 — Zero Tolerance
Immediate suspension or permanent removal- Hate speech, slurs, or discrimination of any kind (race, gender, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, disability, or otherwise)
- Threats of violence, doxxing, or sharing of private personal information without consent
- Sexual harassment of any participant
§ 3 — Competitive Integrity
- No throwing games, intentional sandbagging, or stat manipulation.
- No smurfing, account sharing, or impersonation of another player.
- No bribery, side deals, or collusion to influence trades, rosters, or match outcomes.
- No use of unauthorized software, scripts, or exploits outside the documented Glitch Protocol.
§ 4 — Identity & Accounts
- You must compete under your registered IGN and Discord username at all times.
- You may not play under another person's account, nor allow anyone to play under yours.
- Account switching or platform ID changes require re-approval from League staff and a processing fee.
- Impersonation of another player or league official is prohibited.
§ 5 — Communication Standards
- Keep channels on-topic; no spam, flooding, or excessive pings.
- DM harassment of any member is prohibited.
- Do not share private conversations or DMs without consent of all parties.
- Do not impersonate league staff, commissioners, or officials.
§ 6 — Discord Standards
- Comply with Discord's Terms of Service at all times.
- No NSFW, illegal, hateful, or harmful content in any channel.
- Respect channel-specific rules and purposes.
§ 7 — Disciplinary System
- 🟨 Yellow Card — Formal warning for minor infractions (light toxicity, spam, minor rule violations). Two Yellow Cards in one season = automatic Red Card.
- 🟥 Red Card — Suspended for the next match (3 games). Three Red Cards in one season = suspended for the remainder of the season, including playoffs.
- ⛔ Severe Misconduct — Immediate suspension pending investigation; may result in permanent removal without refund.
- Additional penalties for specific violations are outlined in Rulebook § 9.
§ 8 — Reporting a Violation
- Submit a ticket in the MRL Discord server with your evidence (screenshots, clips, timestamps).
- Do not publicly call out members — escalate to league staff via ticket.
- Filing a false or malicious report is itself a Code of Conduct violation.
§ 9 — Appeals
- Any penalty may be appealed within 24 hours if new evidence exists.
- Appeals are submitted via ticket directly to the Commissioner.
- Commissioner decisions are final.
§ 10 — Staff Conduct
- League staff are held to the same standards as all participants, and to a higher standard of professionalism.
- Staff members who abuse their position, favor, or authority will be removed from their role.
Violations of these Terms or the Code of Conduct may result in warnings, match bans, season suspensions, permanent removal, and/or forfeiture of prizes — at the Commissioner's sole discretion. Participation in MRL constitutes your full agreement to all terms above.
