There are four separate fantasy competitions β Pro, Semi Pro, Academy and Development β and you can enter any or all of them. In each one you build a squad of up to 8 players (5 starters plus up to 3 bench β the bench is optional) with a 50-credit budget, picking at most 1 player per real MRL team. Player prices come from the league's Final Draft Elo β a blend of the GMs' H2H scouting consensus (70%) and draft value (30%) β and stay fixed all season β points come only from what players actually do in official games. You can rename your team any time before the season starts; team names lock once it does.
Starters fill five slots: ATT, MID, DEF, GK and FLEX. A player's official fantasy position decides which slots they can occupy β ST fits ATT; CAM fits ATT or MID; CDM fits MID or DEF; DEF fits DEF; GK only GK. FLEX takes any outfield player, never a goalkeeper. Scoring always uses a player's official position, not the slot you put them in β a CDM in your DEF slot still scores as a CDM.
| Appearance | +1 |
| Goal | +3 |
| Assist | +3 |
| Interception | +1 |
| Interception (official DEF) | +1.25 |
| Save | +1 |
| Team win | +1 |
| MVP | +3 |
| Clean sheet β CDM | +2 |
| Clean sheet β DEF | +4 |
| Clean sheet β GK | +4 |
A clean sheet means your player's team conceded 0 goals. Forfeits award no fantasy points to anyone. Only official regular-season games count β playoffs and showcase are separate. Call-up guest appearances in another tier don't score.
Pick a Captain and a Vice Captain from your starters. Each fantasy week(ending at the Sunday night lock), your Captain's best 3 matches of the week count double. A "match" is the full 3-game set against one opponent β all three games in it get the double. Example: your Captain plays five matches scoring 21, 33, 18, 27 and 24 fantasy points in them β that's 123 normally, plus their best three matches (33 + 27 + 24 = 84) again as the bonus, for 207 total. If the Captain plays fewer than 3 matches, all of them are doubled. If the Captain plays zerogames all week, the Vice Captain gets the treatment instead; if both play zero, no bonus. Captain and Vice choices lock for the week at Sunday night's update β and a rescheduled game simply counts in the fantasy week it's actually played.
MRL teams play on their own schedule, so there are no weekly head-to-head matchups. Fantasy is one season-long leaderboard per tier, running on one simple clock: every change you make β transfers, lineup, bench order, Captain and Vice β takes effect at the next Sunday night lock, and your team then rides unchanged for the whole week. The first week runs from kickoff to the first Sunday lock. If you change nothing, everything carries forward automatically. The official leaderboard updates after each Sunday lock; live provisional points are visible any time.
Your bench is insurance, in priority order B1 β B2 β B3. If a starter plays zero games in a week, the highest-priority bench player who fits the empty slot is automatically substituted in. A starter who played even one game always keeps their spot β subs are never made just because a bench player scored more. A backup GK can only ever replace your GK. The bench is optional β you can leave any or all bench slots empty and spend those credits on your starters instead. The trade-off is yours to make: no bench means no safety net, and a starter whose team plays zero games that week simply scores nothing.
Before the season starts you can rebuild your roster freely. Once it's live, you get 3 free transfers per week (unused transfers donβt stack). Transfers take effect at the next Sunday lock. There's no transfer window after the final Sunday β the team you lock going into the last week is the team you finish with. Prices never change, so there's no buy-low/sell-high game β transfers are about chasing form and fixtures.
Each fantasy roster can hold at most 1 player from any single real MRL team. If a real-life MRL trade later puts two of your players on the same team, nothing happens β your roster is grandfathered and nobody is ever force-sold. The limit only applies when you add someone new.
